Summary

Saltwater. Gastropods. Cream-white mantle covered with orangish, often somewhat rectangular spots with black outlines. Shell is lustrous reddish cream to white.

To be confused with

- Spotted cyphoma Cyphoma nacgintyi
- Fingerprint cyphoma Cyphoma signatum

Characteristics

Size: 1.8 to 2.5 cm, max 4 cm.
Colour: Cream-white mantle covered with orangish, often somewhat rectangular spots with black outlines. Shell is lustrous reddish cream to white.
Shape: Elongated and the dorsum shows a thick transversal ridge.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Attach to and feed on gorgonians in all types of habitat. It is poisenous for other animals and it showes off with bright colours.

Distribution range

BES-eilanden. Curaçao, Bonaire and St. Eustatius.
