Summary

Saltwater fish, Wrasse. Constantly swimming on coral reef. Stays out of reach.

To be confused with

- Bluehead Thalassoma bifasciatum

Characteristics

Size: 12 to 18 cm, max 20 cm.
Colour: Termimal phase male adult has yellow head and green posterior, seperated by wide black bar. Juveniles are yellow, with long blue-whithe bar along the length of the fish.  Initial phase is dark brown from head to upper back, yelllow or purplish on cheek and along the side and fins. Two thin dark lines at the back of the eye.
Shape: Elongated body with slightly rounded caudal fin.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Constantly swimming on coral reef in search of food.

Distribution range

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
