Summary
A yellow to orange encrusting sponge, commonly seen underneath leafy
corals.The surface has a breadcrumb texture, with some large transparent
exhalant pores.
Characteristics
Size: Medium.
Colour: Yellow, Orange, sometimes white. Exhalant pores transparent.
Shape: Encrusting, mostly under, or at sides of, leafy corals. Consistency rather tough, but compressible.
Consistency: Rather tough, but compressible.
Habitat environment and ecology
Most of the sponge body lies within the limestone of the coral colony into which it has burrowed and colonised.
Distribution range
BES-eilanden: Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustacius.
