Summary

Saltwater. Gastropods. Yellowish mantle with black irregular striles, like the skin of fingertips, hence the name! Shell is like the Flamingo tongue, lustrous reddish cream to white. Rare!

To be confused with

- Flamingo Tongue Cyphoma gibbosum

Characteristics

Size: 2,4 cm, max 4,5 cm.
Colour: Yellowish mantle with black irregular striles, like the skin of fingertips, hence the name! Shell is like the Flamingo tongue, lustrous reddish cream to white.
Shape:  Elongated and the dorsum shows a thick transversal ridge.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Attach to and feed on gorgonians in all types of habitat. It is poisenous for other animals and it showes off with bright colours.

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
