Summary

Saltwater. Tunicates. Numerous small tunicates embedded in a white, firm, globular tunic. Each individual forms slight depression in the surface of the colony and can be recognized by the two siphon openings that protrude slightly.

To be confused with

- Black Condominium Tunicate Eudistoma obscuratum
- Strawberry Tunicate Eudistoma sp.

Characteristics

Size: 2 to 10 cm.
Colour: Colour commonly white. The whiteness is due to densely packed spicules in the test, the orange colour is due to pigment cells in the tunic.
Shape: Numerous small tunicates embedded in a white, firm, globular tunic. Each individual forms slight depression in the surface of the colony and can be recognized by the two siphon openings that protrude slightly.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Often grow in areas of dead coral and algae.

Distribution range

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
