Summary

Saltwater. Sponge crabs. Cut and shape sponge "caps" which they hold in place with two pair of upturned rear legs. During the day tipically remain stationary hiding under sponge caps: feed at night.

Characteristics

Size: 5-7,5 cm.
Colour: Tip of pincers red, coloor of body and claws highly variable.
Shape: Short feltlike hair covers carpace, legs and pincers, large spine on the side of each eye.


Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits reefs. Cut and shape sponge "caps" which they hold in place with two pair of upturned rear legs. During the day tipically remain stationary hiding under sponge caps: feed at night.

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
