Summary

Saltwater fish. Barracudas. Silver. Long, cylindrical body. Large underslung jaw, pointed teeth often obvious. Drifts around reefs and other habitats. Solitary or in small groups.

To be confused with

- Atlantic Tarpon Megalops atlanticus (which is also a long, silvery fish).

Characteristics

Size: 60–100 cm,  max 180 cm.
Colour: silver or blue type coloration or grey above chalky-white below,  black spots occurs on each side. Shape: elongated fish with powerful jaws.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs and subtropical parts of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans

Distribution range

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius, Saba.
