Variegated Feather Duster
Bristle worm. Saltwater. Feather Duster Worms. This feather duster has a single, circular crown of radioles. The coloring of the crown is usually in shades of gray to brown, can be uniform, but also variegated or banded. The pattern is formed by spots on the stems of the radioles.

Bristle worm. Saltwater. Tube Worms. This feather worm has a double fold of radioles that form a U-shaped crown. The opening of the tube has a simple lid (operculum) that consists of a series of discs. The tubes are hard, calcareous.

Yellow Tube Sponge
Soft-walled tubes, usually in clusters joined at the base. Length of tubes up to 120 cm. In deeper water, the tubes tend to become longer than at shallow places. The surface is finely convoluted but does not show the deep and meandering grooves of Convoluted barrel sponge.

Bristle worm. Saltwater. Feather Duster Worms. This is by far the largest with a double, circular crown of radioles up to 10 cm.

Christmas Tree Worm
Bristle worm. Saltwater. Tube Worms. The most well known of the feather worms has two spiraled crowns of radioles. The hard, calcareous tube is hidden in the coral. When disturbed, the animal retracts immediately into its tube, closing it with a two-horned, circular lid, called the operculum.
