Summary

Saltwater fish, Grunts. High back profile. Dark patch behind pectoral fin. Inhabit inshore reefs and rocky areas. Often under ledges or in caves. Shy and difficult to approach.

Characteristics

Size: 30 to 45 cm, max 60 cm.
Colour: Silver-grey with black fins.
Shape: Short and deep body, strongly curved upper head, blunt snout and thick lips.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Inhabit inshore reefs and rocky areas. Often under ledges or in caves. Shy and difficult to approach.

Distribution range

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
