Summary

Saltwaterfish. Butterflyfishes. Deep-bodied and  laterally compressed, with a single dorsal fin and a small mouth. Inhabit corals reefs in shallow water where they swim about, usually in mated pairs in search for food.

To be confused with

- Banded Butterflyfish Chaetodon striatus
- Spotfin Butterflyfish Chaetodon ocellatus

Characteristics

Size:  8 to 13 cm, max 15 cm
Colour: white body with yellow caudal fin, a dark bar across the head through the eye and one at the dorsal fin.
Shape:  Deep-bodied and  laterally compressed and a small mouth.

Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabit corals reefs in shallow water where they swim about, usually in mated pairs in search for food.

Distribution range

BES-eilanden: St. Eustatius.
