Summary

Sharks (Chondrichthyes). Two barbels on upper lip. Two dorsal fins, of nearly equal size, are set far back. Small mouth. Vary from gray to yellow-brown. Tail fin has no distinct lower lobe. Juveniles often have widely spaced small black spots covering the body, fins and head.

- Tawny nurse shark Nebrius ferrugineus (Indo-Pacific.)
- Zebra shark (carpet sharks) Stegostoma fasciatum
(tropical Indo-Pacific.)

Characteristics

Size: 3 m.
Colour: brownish.
Shape: long, sharklike.

Habitat environment and ecology

Around coral reefs, in tropical and subtropical waters.

Distribution range

St. Eustatius. BES-eilanden.
